For more than 20 years, Marina Carrere d’Encausse invites itself into the daily lives of viewers of France 5 with his show The Health Magazine. A program she presented for a long time with his friend, Michel Cymes.
But a few years before being one of the figures of this chain, the one who is a doctor survived a tragedy. At the age of 24, she was the victim of a serious car accident with her sister which left her in a coma, then paralyzed for several months. An episode to which the host returned during her visit to At Jordan’s. She first told the causes of the drama. The vehicle in which she was with her family hit a plane tree head-on at a speed of 130 km/h. His father, driving, was tired and “fallen asleep”. “It is an extremely common cause of accident and it was on the Landes road which was a deadly road at the time when the plane trees followed one another”.
The results ? “I stayed in the hospital for a long time because I damaged absolutely everything, then there were months of rehabilitation followingwards”. A very difficult period which was… “useful” pour the one who at the time was a doctor in the making. “It teaches what it is to be patient, to be in a hospital bed, how to be modest with patients, to respect them”she confided. “It’s an experience that is interesting. I didn’t want it, I suffered it, but it brought me a lot”.
A defining moment in her life that she had already detailed in an interview with the magazine Femina.
