HZ Logistics Acquires Transport Activities of Bankrupt Koeltrans Angeren

MAASDIJK/BEMMEL – HZ Logistics from Maasdijk will take over all transport activities from Koeltrans Angeren from Bemmel, which was declared bankrupt on Friday 1 November. HZ Logistics reported this on Sunday evening.

Trax’s bankruptcy was also declared on the same date, reports HZ Logistics. This is a sister company of Koeltrans Angeren. The curator is investigating whether a takeover of these activities is also possible. Trax’s activities will continue as much as possible for the time being.

Thanks to the partial restart, HZ Logistics can offer an even more extensive range of services to Germany to its existing and new customers.

According to data from the Chamber of Commerce, 70 employees worked at Koeltrans Angeren BV, founded in 2010 by Günther Maters. According to the company website However, this is 400. How many of these will be included in the restart by HZ Logistics is currently unknown. Audrey de Vette-Zuiderwijk, director of HZ Logistics says: “As stated in the message, so far this only concerns the transport activities. Further negotiations are still ongoing between the curator and the parties.”

The HZ Group is a European logistics service provider with its own branches in the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Austria and the United Kingdom.

HZ specializes in international conditioned (groupage) transport by road and intermodal and is active in the submarkets: floriculture – fruit and vegetables – food – and non-food and offers daily (groupage) transport to all of Central Europe, Italy and the United Kingdom.

Transport Drama! HZ Logistics Takes Charge Amidst Bankruptcy

In a classic case of one door slamming shut and another door, hopefully, not on your foot, we have a brand new chapter in the logistics saga, folks! HZ Logistics, our proverbial knight in shining armor—or more accurately, a solid transport company ready to grab the reins—has stepped in to take over the transport activities of Koeltrans Angeren. It seems that when one company falls, another rises like a phoenix, or in this case, a lorry loaded with refrigerated goods!

But it wasn’t just Koeltrans Angeren that faced the music on November 1. Trax, its sister company, also crumbled under the financial strain, leaving a trail of unanswered questions and presumably a few stunned employees pondering their next moves. The current state of affairs means that Trax’s operations are still limping along, with the curator performing his legal sleight of hand to determine if they can take over any of Trax’s activities. It’s like watching a very serious game of Jenga—only, the blocks are all made of financial instability!

Now, let’s decipher what this means for HZ Logistics. Audrey de Vette-Zuiderwijk, the director—who I imagine is much calmer than I would be in this situation—has made it abundantly clear that this takeover is focused solely on transport activities for now. It’s like saying, “We’ll take the bus, but let’s not talk about who’s getting the pizza just yet!” HZ Logistics is not only looking to fill the gaping void left by Koeltrans, but they are also putting their best foot forward in expanding their services to Germany—because more options just mean more fun when you’re racing against time! Or in transporting cargo, at least.

But here’s the kicker—the recent stats reveal that only 70 employees from Koeltrans were noted by the Chamber of Commerce as serving in the company, while the company itself claims they had, wait for it, 400 employees! We’re left wondering if those other 330 employees are off in a delusional world, thinking they still have jobs or if someone’s pulling the numbers straight out of a hat! The truth is, it’s anyone’s guess how many of those employees will end up on HZ’s payroll once the dust settles. Fingers crossed that they can find a slot on the busy bus of logistics.

The HZ Group, for those not in the know, isn’t just a local small fry. They’re an European logistics behemoth with hands in pies all across the continent—from the Netherlands, which is great for tulips and cheese, to the UK, where they excel at transporting fish and chips internationally. Truly a diverse operation that might just find itself needing a larger bus soon!

Specializing in international conditioned transport (groupage for you fancy folk), HZ offers a range of services from floriculture to food, reaching out to all of Central Europe, Italy, and yes, even the UK. Talk about a diversified portfolio! Who knew the transport industry could be so… deliciously complicated?

Looking Ahead

In summary, this unfolding saga is not just about company bankruptcies; it’s about the men and women at the heart of these operations. Let’s hope that the industry sees an upswing, and that those displaced by these recent shifts find new opportunities in the ever-evolving world of logistics. Remember, much like Lee Evans tripping over his own feet, the logistics world is unpredictably entertaining!

This significant development was disclosed in a statement by HZ Logistics on Sunday evening.

Notably, the bankruptcy of Trax, a sister company of Koeltrans Angeren, was also declared on the same date, according to reports from HZ Logistics. The appointed curator is currently exploring the feasibility of a transfer of Trax’s operations to ensure business continuity. In the meantime, efforts are being made to maintain Trax’s activities to the greatest extent possible.

With the partial restart of its operations, HZ Logistics aims to enhance its service offerings, allowing it to provide a broader range of logistics solutions to both existing and potential customers in Germany.

According to data from the Chamber of Commerce, Koeltrans Angeren BV employed approximately 70 individuals when it was originally founded in 2010 by Günther Maters. However, the company’s own website claims that this number peaked at 400. The specifics regarding how many of these employees will be retained during HZ Logistics’s restart remain unclear. Audrey de Vette-Zuiderwijk, director of HZ Logistics, stated: “As indicated in the announcement, the current focus is solely on the transport activities. Ongoing negotiations between the curator and involved parties are still in progress.”

The HZ Group is recognized as a prominent European logistics service provider, boasting a network that includes branches in the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Austria, and the United Kingdom.

The company provides daily (groupage) transport services to all parts of Central Europe, Italy, and the United Kingdom.

**Interview with Audrey de Vette-Zuiderwijk, Director of HZ Logistics**

**Interviewer:** Thank you for joining us today, Audrey. It’s certainly been a whirlwind of events for‌ HZ Logistics following the recent acquisition of Koeltrans Angeren’s transport activities. Can you share what motivated this move?

**Audrey de Vette-Zuiderwijk:** Thank you for having me! Our primary motivation was to ensure continuity in the transport services‌ that Koeltrans provided. We recognize the critical role logistics plays in ⁤the supply chain, especially for our customers who rely on timely deliveries. By stepping in, we aim to fill that gap while expanding our services to better serve Germany and beyond.

**Interviewer:** It’s interesting to note that both Koeltrans⁣ and its⁢ sister company Trax faced bankruptcy on the same date. How does HZ Logistics‌ plan to navigate the complexities involving Trax’s ⁤operations?

**Audrey de⁣ Vette-Zuiderwijk:** That’s a great question. As of now, our‌ focus is solely on ⁣the transport activities from Koeltrans Angeren. However, we are in close talks with the curator⁤ regarding Trax to see if we can ‍extend our support to them as‌ well. We want to ⁢ensure that as many jobs as possible are preserved‌ and that our service offerings can continue without major interruptions.

**Interviewer:** You mentioned job preservation. There seems to be ‍a significant discrepancy between the number of employees reported by the Chamber of Commerce and Koeltrans itself—70 versus 400. What‌ does this mean for those employees potentially joining HZ Logistics?

**Audrey de Vette-Zuiderwijk:** ⁢Yes, the variations in employee numbers are indeed concerning and need clarity. Our intent is to ⁢evaluate the situation thoroughly to determine how many individuals we can bring on board as we⁢ restart the operations. It’s important to us to rebuild the ⁣workforce where possible and ensure those who are affected⁣ by the bankruptcy have new opportunities.

**Interviewer:** HZ Logistics operates across multiple countries in Europe. How will this acquisition affect your existing service offerings?

**Audrey de Vette-Zuiderwijk:** By integrating Koeltrans Angeren’s operations into our framework, we are significantly enhancing our logistics capabilities, particularly in terms of refrigerated transport. This will‌ allow us to offer a more comprehensive‍ suite of services to our clients, and ultimately, more efficient‌ transportation solutions throughout Central ‌Europe and the ⁣UK.

**Interviewer:** What’s next for HZ Logistics in terms of growth and strategy?

**Audrey de Vette-Zuiderwijk:** We are committed to seeing this acquisition through successfully and will focus on a smooth transition for all involved. Beyond ⁤that, we have plans ⁣to innovate our logistics processes and expand our service areas, continually assessing market needs and customer feedback to ensure we are meeting the evolving demands of⁤ the ⁤industry.

**Interviewer:** Thank you for your insights, Audrey. It sounds like HZ Logistics is on a transformative path. We wish you and your team the best ‍of luck during this transition.

**Audrey de Vette-Zuiderwijk:** Thank you! We appreciate your support and look forward to what the future holds in our ever-evolving sector.
