Hyundai Motor Company’s first-generation Grandeur and Pony Pickup, which dominated the 1980s, appear in the Netflix movie ‘Operation Seoul Daejeon’.
Hyundai Motor Company announced on the 26th that it has collaborated with Netflix from the movie production stage to introduce retro vehicles such as Pony Pickup, Grandeur 1st generation, Sonata 2nd generation, Stellar and Cortina and provided the site of the old Wonhyoro service center as a filming location.
The first pickup truck, the Pony Pickup, which is the first domestically produced model Pony to be remodeled, plays a pivotal role in the slush fund recovery operation of the main characters in the movie.
The first generation of white Grangers, also known as ‘Gak Grandeur’, also appear in the movie.
Hyundai Motor Company will unveil the exterior silhouette of the new Grandeur, which will be released at the end of this year, in a cinematic digital advertisement video produced like a ‘spin-off’ of a movie using the plot of Operation Seoul National University and the cast.
The new Grandeur is said to have inherited the design elements of the first generation of Grandeur.
In addition, a new ‘driving zone’ was created in the metaverse platform ZEPETO to realize the car repair shop ‘Pankusa’, a hideout for the main character in the movie, and a virtual experience program where you can assemble or drive the vehicles featured in the movie.
Hyundai Motor will exhibit the pony pickup tuning car and Grandeur 1st generation used in the actual movie shooting at ‘Hyundai Motorstudio Seoul’ in Gangnam-gu, Seoul from 29th of this month to 28th of October.
Along with the exhibition, there is also a test drive program where you can ride the same model as the exhibited car.
A Hyundai Motor official said, “We tried to convey the unique charm of a vehicle that contains Hyundai Motor’s history with a modern sensibility.”
