Hyundai Motor Company celebrated an important milestone, reaching 100 million units of cumulative production worldwide.
This achievement was achieved in just 57 years since the company was founded, making it one of the fastest in the global automotive industry. In honor of this milestone, Hyundai Motor held a ceremony at its Ulsan plant in Korea.
As a token of gratitude for its customers’ unwavering support and trust, the company delivered its 100 millionth and first vehicle, an IONIQ 5, directly to a customer. The vehicle rolled off the final inspection conveyor belt at the Ulsan plant shipping center during a special handover ceremony.
The event also included a celebratory display commemorating “100 million and 1”, symbolizing Hyundai Motor’s commitment to go one step further with its past achievements as a foundation.
“Achieving cumulative global production of 100 million vehicles is a significant milestone made possible by our customers around the world who chose and supported Hyundai Motor from the beginning,” said Jaehoon Chang, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Company. .

The Ulsan plant, which began operations in 1968, has significant historical significance as the “cradle of the development of the Korean automotive industry.” Notably, the plant produced Korea’s first independent mass-produced model, the Pony, in 1975. Today, the Ulsan plant is an electrification powerhouse, and the company is establishing a dedicated electric vehicle (EV) facility in the site.
