  • This concept is a modernized version of the Pony Coupe of the 1970s.

  • Reports show that the manufacturer wants to offer this model in its lineup in the next few years.

  • Questions remain as to the mechanics of the production version.

Rumors from Korea indicate that Hyundai has decided to offer a production version of the N Vision 74 concept as part of its N range of performance cars.

According to sources cited by the Korean site Money Today, the manufacturer could even unveil this production version before the end of the month, during an event to be held on May 27.

The N Vision 74 concept was first shown to the public last July and is inspired by the 1974 Pony Coupe concept.

While the exterior of the new concept is full of retro touches, its powertrain is very modern, combining electricity and hydrogen.

Powering two motors installed on the rear axle, this combination results in 671 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque, which would be enough to propel the N Vision 74 up to 96 km/h (60 mph). in 4 seconds.

Thanks to the 62.4 kWh battery and a 4.2 kilogram reserve of hydrogen, Hyundai claims the concept can travel 600 kilometers without needing to stop.

Since hydrogen is not yet a very popular power source for passenger cars, the production model is unlikely to feature the same powertrain as the concept.

That means Hyundai could choose to run it on gasoline and use the 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 found in models such as the Genesis G90, or make it a completely electric.

The latter option is the most likely as the N division is set to launch its first electric model, the IONIQ 5 N, at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July.

If the reports are correct, we should soon know more about this model, which will probably be the first vehicle offered exclusively by the N division of Hyundai.
