HYT – Hastroid Cosmic Hunter: the new bronze age – Style & Trend

This fall, the Hastroid by HYT is dressed in warm and sensual tones with a bronze evolution of its case. An original mutation to say the least, since it marries the futuristic character of the Hastroid with the texture of a material from the oldest ages. Refined and elegant, the new Hastroid Cosmic Hunter fits perfectly into the bold approach pursued by HYT.

This virtuosity is clearly expressed in the way in which the dual-material case, 48 mm in diameter, for a total length of 52.3 mm and a case thickness of 17.2 mm, of the new Hastroid Cosmic Hunter has been designed. The originality lies in the marriage of carbon and titanium coated with a bronze PVD treatment with a microblasted finish. The advantage of this bronze-colored galvanic coating is to have a vintage hunter look while retaining the surprising lightness of the Hastroid model.

Known for millennia, bronze is traditionally an alloy of copper and tin, whose hue, close to that of gold, generally tends to evolve, due to oxidation. It is not uncommon for bronze to darken or take on a verdigris hue. To make its new Hastroid Cosmic Hunter timeless, HYT has chosen to control the bronze, thanks to a stabilizing surface treatment.

By freezing its beauty and its luminosity, with a resolutely contemporary approach, free from nostalgia or an artificial search for a vintage effect, HYT propels bronze into a new futuristic age.

Offering a beautiful contrast effect, this variation in the color of the case accentuates the optimal readability of the dial, with its beige numerals in Lumicast®, an advanced material, application of three-dimensional Super-LumiNova® to accentuate its luminescence, its treated hands in matt black, and, of course, its fluid dedicated to the retrograde indication of the passage of hours. This black fluid, in its extra-thin borosilicate capillary tube, is the remarkable specificity of the meca-fluidic timepieces developed by HYT.

The multi-layer middle of the Hastroid-type case remains subtly openworked, while the sandwich construction mode of the entire watch, water-resistant to 50 meters, and featuring a central titanium protective box for the movement, allows this vessel to respond in an optimized manner to the missions assigned to it

Like a pilot’s cockpit, the watch is surmounted by a domed sapphire crystal offering a largely unobstructed view of the entire dial. The centerpiece remains, of course, the fluidic device, with the two central “bellows” reservoirs, whose aesthetics specific to HYT creations reinforce the personality and the sensation of power, and the capillary tube encircling the dial.

It is powered by a hand-wound mechanical movement, caliber 501-CM, with a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4Hz) and endowed with 72 hours of power reserve.

This caliber was designed by Eric Coudray®, a recognized master watchmaker in the discipline and Gaïa 2012 Prize. Within PURTEC – TEC Group company – and with the help of his lifelong friend, watchmaker Paul Clémenti – Gaïa 2018, the movement has gained in aesthetics and finishes, with elegant satin-finishing, parts textured by laser or bead blasting.

To underline the character of this piece of contemporary haute horlogerie, the black rubber strap with green insert with military accents in Alcantara® is adorned with an embossed Corioform® decoration inspired by the suits of astronauts.

Original and rare, the new Hastroid Cosmic Hunter (ref H02756-A) will only be made in 27 copies.
