Hypertension: the best plants to lower the pressure

What is hypertension?

It is an extremely widespread silent disease: hypertension – ie increased blood pressure in the arteries – affects up to 65% of people over 65 and, all the same, 10% of 18/34 year olds*. This makes it the most common cardiovascular disease. And if hypertension is discreet and causes almost no symptoms, its consequences are clearly visible: cardiovascular disorders, kidney failure, Alzheimer’s disease… Hence the importance of being screened and monitored by your doctor. We speak of hypertension when the systolic tension exceeds 140mmHg and the diastolic the 90mmHg (the famous figures 14/9 measured thanks to the tensiometer). If we come close to these values, or if we exceed them exceptionally (or recently), the doctor will advise us to change our diet, to do more exercise, or even to take medication or plants. In any case, we cannot treat ourselves without speaking to a health professional to verify that there are no contraindications in our situation.
