On the first Sunday in February she did Hymns From The Apocrypha European Tour also in the one that is of course sold out Rockhouse Bar HERE stop. Given this outrageously high-profile line up, it’s rather surprising that the pay out was only announced a few hours before the event and not weeks in advance, because for all fans of the more brutal metal genre, this should actually have been a must.
And already the opener Organectomy HERE from New Zealand clearly showed why. From then on the Rockhouse was transformed into a madhouse. In short: Anyone who brings an opener like this into the line up has to really deliver, because the four men tore everything down straight away and set the bar accordingly high for the rest of the evening.
Afterwards the deathcore specialists from Enterprise Earth HERE ran. Even though the show itself went flawlessly and the crowd really enjoyed it, the first victim of the great opener was probably already claimed here. Neither in terms of sound nor performance might one match the incredible performance of their New Zealand colleagues.
Sanguisugabogg HERE which are now well beyond the status of insider tips, initially seemed as if they were struggling with a few technical problems. However, the impression disappeared as soon as the band started their set. By now the bar was overflowing at the seams and one might justifiably worry regarding the – actually very stable – furnishings.
Last but not least, the stage was set for Suffocation HERE, which didn’t last long. Instead, they showed volleyball why they have the status they do. Fireworks were unleashed on the crowd without mercy. So you might indulge in the brutal blast beats, the oppressive guitars and the brutal growls one last time.
All that remains to say is that it was once once more an outstanding concert in the Rockhouse Bar. Four great bands, mostly wonderful sound and a guarantee for a sore neck the next day. What more might you want, except maybe the same thing once more?
