Hydra – The oligarch from Kazakhstan about the fire: The Greek authorities did not prevent us from leaving – 2024-07-03 21:12:57

An answer is given by Daniyar Abulgazin, an oligarch from Kazakhstan, who is accused of moral fraud regarding the Hydra fire. It is noted that Abulgazin was the one who organized the trip with the yacht, which was recorded in a photo being a few meters away from the spot where the fire occurred on the island.

The businessman, one of the richest in Kazakhstan, notes that the Greek authorities did not prevent him from leaving Greece, and noted that before he left, “nobody did anything to him”. Abulgazin made the statement to the Kazakhstan edition of Forbes.

His statement in detail:

For the sake of clarity, I have chartered the yacht Persephoni I for the period from 12:00 (noon) 15 June 2024 to 12:00 on 22 June 2024 to organize a cruise for me and my guests to the islands of Greece. Before our departure from Greece, which was originally scheduled for June 22nd, we were spoken to by representatives of the Greek authorities, who did not make any claims once morest me or my guests in connection with this incident. So we continued to follow our predetermined travel plans. Please note that some guests have already departed on the morning of June 21, 2024.

It was a complete surprise to us to learn of the allegations that followed in the press on our return, and I categorically deny any wrongdoing. Neither I nor my guests did any actions that might lead to a fire.

We strictly followed the fire safety rules established on the yacht. Neither I nor my guests asked the yacht’s crew or other third parties to take any actions that might lead to a fire.

We always take all the necessary safety measures and strictly follow the laws and regulations to avoid such incidents. We will cooperate with the Greek authorities as part of their investigation.

Due to the ongoing investigation, it would not be appropriate to comment further or speculate.”
