HW Electro, a new Japanese automobile company, is making headlines by introducing a modular micro electric van.

The company’s first concept, ‘Puzzle’, is a battery electric van that complies with Japan’s strict kei car specifications and was featured at the Japan Mobility Show last October.

This model, which has a robot-like face, maximizes interior space with flat sides like a typical Kei car, and has a large solar panel on the roof to increase usability. However, the design elements are evaluated as being slightly lacking.

The smooth exterior panel is available in a variety of color combinations for easy repair and can be replaced with a different material.

Inside, you can see pegboard-like holes for modular configuration, which is why the name ‘puzzle’ was born.

The vehicle is equipped with multiple 100v AC and USB outlets, charging ports, and a first aid kit on the vertical panel below the A-pillar, making it suitable for disaster areas where infrastructure has collapsed. A large crowbar is also stored in the back storage compartment.

Although specific information regarding the vehicle has not been disclosed, it is said to be 3403mm long, 1480mm wide, and 1998mm high, equipped with a lithium iron phosphate battery, and capable of driving 125 miles (200km) when fully charged.

Additionally, it is equipped with two seats inside and can be used as a small commercial truck.

HW Electro filmed a promotional video for the vehicle in New York, USA and announced plans to sell it in the US.
