Another tragedy occurred in the world of hockey in the last hours.
The match between HV71 and Djurgården had not yet started three minutes before a serious accident occurred.
As reported by our colleagues at HockeyFeed, HV captain Sanni Hakala was in a free position facing the Djurgården goalkeeper, but she lost her balance and hit one of the posts head-on. As of Saturday, she was still hospitalized.
Hakala remained lying on the ice and medical personnel immediately entered the ice. They stabilized the Finnish player’s neck, then transported her on a stretcher to Ryhov County Hospital.
The HV captain might move her fingers and arms, but seemed to no longer feel her legs.
They pressed her legs several times with great force, but she did not react.
HV71 assistant coach Peter Hammarström confirms the information.
Unfortunately, she seemed to no longer feel any sensation from the waist down. But we know nothing more than the fact that she was taken to Ryhov. There they will definitely work with her all night. She will be x-rayed immediately to see what happened.
