MIAMI (AP).— The Hurricane Oscar It formed off the coast of the Bahamas, reported the United States National Hurricane Center (NHC) in Miami. He described the storm as “small.”

The Bahamian government issued a hurricane watch for the British islands of Turks and Caicos and the southeastern Bahamas. The Cuban government issued a hurricane warning for the provinces of Guantánamo, Holguín and Las Tunas.

The storm’s maximum sustained winds were 80 miles per hour (130 kilometers per hour) with higher gusts. It was located about 260 kilometers (165 miles) east-southeast of the southwestern Bahamas and about 755 kilometers (470 miles) east of Camagüey, Cuba.

Storm Nadine in Central America

Hours earlier, Tropical Storm Nadine formed off the southern coast of Mexico in the Caribbean and was moving inland across Belize. There was heavy rain and tropical storm conditions in parts of Belize and Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula.

A tropical storm watch was in effect for Belize City and Cancun, Mexico, including Cozumel.

The NHC said Nadine was located 35 kilometers (20 miles) east of Belize City, with winds of 20 km/h (13 mph). Its maximum sustained winds were 85 km/h (50 mph). Nadine was forecast to pass over Belize, northern Guatemala and southern Mexico through Sunday, the NHC added.
