Hurricane Lee: Updates, Forecast, and Impacts on Martinique and Guadeloupe

This cyclonic system should evolve in the North-East of the West Indies from Friday, September 8, 2023. Météo France forecasts “rainy and stormy passages” on Martinique and the sea will deepen.

The hurricane called “Lee”, could cause from Friday, September 8, 2023, rain and thunderstorms according to Météo France.

Severe Tropical Storm Lee is now a Category 1 hurricane, located about 1800km east of the Lesser Antilles and is moving west-northwest at 22 km/h. Lee is expected to continue to strengthen to become a major hurricane within the next 2 days. Its probable trajectory will take it to the northwest, then north of the Arc at the end of the week. It is still too early to define its indirect impacts on the Lesser Antilles.

The NHC estimates that the phenomenon will be a major hurricane by Friday. Concerning Guadeloupe and Martinique, the swell on the north and northeast side is to be expected. Also, caution will be required for boaters and sea professionals from Friday.
