The late National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference Vice Chairman Huo Yingdong’s second-generation property dispute case was officially opened in the High Court yesterday (11/1), and the trial will begin for regarding 70 days. The case was originally mediated in August 2012 by Tung Chee-hwa, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and former chief executive, and Leung Oi-shih, who was the former secretary of justice. The rights and interests worth nearly 7 billion yuan were successfully appealed in 2015, allowing Huo Zhenyu and Changfang’s two daughters, Liping and Lina, to restart the lawsuit.
Former Secretary for Justice Wong Yan-lung, representing Fok, arrived at the High Court at 9.30am, and Fok arrived later. At 9:40, Huo Lina’s senior lawyer Yu Ruohai arrived at the court with Zhai Shaotang, a senior lawyer representing Fok Ying Tung Fund Co., Ltd., and his legal team. Huo Lina also attended the scene. Huo Lina’s lawyer Yu Ruohai continued to make the opening speech, reviewing the details of Huo Yingdong’s decision to invest in the Nansha development project, the content of the board meeting, and the consideration of the project as a money-making or charitable purpose.
16:36 Huo Tinghuan stepped out of the courtroom and asked if he would take the first step since both parties wanted to reconcile. He said, “It shouldn’t be exposed.” Then he got into the car and left. The case will resume at 10 a.m. tomorrow morning.
The court was adjourned at noon, and Horina walked out of the court at 13:15. The reporter asked her if she would continue to sue her. She said, “I’m sorry.” When asked if she would like to reconcile, she thought regarding it and said, “It’s a matter of thought. alright.” He got into the car and left. After Huo Zhenhuan walked out of the court, the reporter mentioned that Huo Lina wanted to reconcile and asked him what he thought. He said, “We have always hoped for reconciliation. All hope.” In addition, Huo Zhenyu will appear in court next Tuesday to testify.
