On Tuesday followingnoon, a major fire broke out in the municipal economy on Äußere Hordorfer Straße in Halle (Saale). First, a wheel loader caught fire. The fire spread to surrounding recyclables, and a second working machine also caught fire. In addition, a building was affected, in which, among other things, the changing rooms are located.
The fire brigade was deployed with 22 vehicles and more than 120 forces. Residual extinguishing work is currently in progress. City officials have launched the KatWarn app to ask residents to keep windows and doors closed.
Nobody got hurt. The damage is estimated at a high six-digit amount.
The recyclables market will remain closed for the time being, informs the Hallesche Wasser- und Stadtwirtschaft GmbH (HWS). The markets at Äußere Radeweller Straße 15 and at Schieferstraße 2 are open as usual.
