The Bünder civil engineering office announced that new information was expected on Tuesday morning.
One day following the rockfall in the Calanca valley in the canton of Graubünden, hundreds of people were still cut off from the environment on Monday morning. The Calancastrasse was still closed.
New information is expected on Tuesday morning, as stated on the website of the Graubünden civil engineering office on Monday morning. Apparently nobody was injured in the rock fall between the Castaneda and Buseno junctions, according to information from the Graubünden canton police on Sunday.
A woman reported shortly before 6:30 a.m. on Sunday that she heard a loud bang and then saw smoke rising. The fire brigade of the lower Mesolcina and Calanca valleys and the police found on site that the rubble masses had completely covered and damaged the road over a length of around 150 meters.
There was no information regarding the cause of the rock fall. According to the canton police, it is a slope with a pronounced incline. The places that are behind Castaneda, such as Buseno, Rossa and Arvigo, are cut off from the outside world. (SDA)
