Hundreds of families affected by flooding after rains in Delta Amacuro, Sucre and Zulia

Hundreds of families have been affected in recent hours due to the heavy rainfall that caused flooding in three states of the country.

In a press release, the Ministry of Interior and Justice explained that the “national risk management system” was activated after the passage of a tropical wave that generated rainfall in Delta Amacuro and Sucre, as well as in Zulia.

The aim is to “guarantee care for the populations affected by the heavy rains,” says the document, which does not specify a total number of victims or material damages in these three regions.

In one of the affected areas of Zulia alone, some 200 families from a fishing community have been affected by the bad weather, a situation that persists in this region to which 4,500 “items and supplies were allocated to provide a timely response.”

Authorities also sent mattresses, water tanks, lamps and other materials to Sucre, the state most affected by the rains, where an undetermined number of homes located in nine communities have suffered damage of varying intensity.

According to local media, the rains also caused damage in the state of Monagas, with no reports of deaths or injuries so far.
