A pregnant woman in Vietnam received news that her fiancé had escaped from the marriage on the eve of her wedding, so she decided to find the service of a “rental groom” to legalize her pregnancy, hoping to help her family get rid of the humiliation. In addition, she also found two fake in-laws to promote her marriage. The wedding went off without a hitch.
According to Vietnamese media reports, Linh, a 29-year-old woman from Ho Chi Minh City, is a bridal secretary for a wedding company, but before that she was their client and used the service of “rental groom”. This incident dates back to five years ago, when Linh was a worker in Xinping Industrial Zone. She was living with her boyfriend at the time, but she unexpectedly became pregnant.
At that time, Linh and her boyfriend were very scared because they were not sure that they would be good parents. Faced with her boyfriend’s repeated requests to remove the child, she gave up because she did not dare to have the operation. Finally, she decided to give birth to the child and Linh planned to hold a wedding; her boyfriend cruelly refused following learning regarding it. However, in order to persuade her boyfriend, Linh threatened him to commit suicide many times.
In the end, her boyfriend agreed to accompany her home to meet her parents and informed her of the pregnancy. Although her parents were very distressed when they heard regarding it, they still agreed to their marriage. However, the husband’s family was too far away, so the wedding process was simplified and the engagement ceremony was skipped. “My parents accepted all this, and my grandparents also agreed that I would marry him, even though they had never met my fiancé’s parents.”
With the wedding approaching, Linh mightn’t contact her fiancé, so she hurried to the motel where her fiancé was staying, but unexpectedly found that he had already checked out. “When I found out that I had been betrayed, I felt extremely humiliated. I just want to die. But I can’t, because I can’t bear to hurt the child in my belly. I think of my parents in the country and the preparations my family has made for the wedding. I can’t let my parents be more humiliated because of my mistakes.”
Finally, she chose the “groom rental service” on the recommendation of a friend, and found a man named N who had 10 years of experience and was 2 years older than her. She also found two strangers as her in-laws, spending a total of 50 million VND. In order to make “the drama” more complete, the fake groom hired by Linh pretended to go home to pick up his parents before the wedding and went to Ho Chi Minh City for the wedding. Since then, Linh’s family has not often interacted with relatives and neighbors. When someone asked regarding her affairs, her grandparents would try their best to avoid talking regarding it.
