After two fierce matches in Dubai, Hurkacz will play in the quarterfinals
27-year-old Hubert Hurkacz in ATP 500 Dubai has two difficult matches behind him. First, the German Jan-Lennard Struff, seeded number 25 in the ATP rankings, stood in his way. After a fierce and very exhausting fight, which ended following three tie-breaks, the player from Wrocław was ultimately better – 7:6 (7-5), 6:7 (4-7), 7:6 (8-6). However, it cannot be denied that we watched a real tennis thriller on the courts, which lasted over 160 minutes.
On Wednesday, February 28, in the 1/8 finals of the ATP 500 in Dubai, the Wroclaw native faced Christopher O’Connell from Australia (ATP 68). And once more it wasn’t easy. The players fought evenly. Hurkacz won in two sets 7:6 (7-5), 6:4 and he will be the one we will see in the quarterfinals of the tournament.
The Wrocław player said following the match that it was difficult to play with O’Connell because he showed really good tennis in Dubai. – I will give my all in the next round – said Hubi.

The men have met on the court twice this year – in Australia Hubi was better, in Marseille – Hugo. In total, they played once morest each other four times and the Pole was better three times.
It is worth adding that the 25-year-old Frenchman (ranking 18th in the ATP ranking) eliminated the champion himself – Andy Murray – in the 1/8 finals in Dubai. This promises to be a very interesting quarterfinal.
