Human trafficking gang suspected of smuggling young women into Syria | Human Trafficking

The Mavelikkara woman, who arrived in Kuwait through a private job recruitment agency in Kochi ∙ Ernakulam Ravipuram, is suspected to have been trafficked to Syria by a human trafficking racket.

It is alleged that the accused also smuggled a Hindi-speaking woman from Syria to Syria along with a West Cochin woman who had escaped and returned home. Majeed (Ghazali) from Taliparamba, Kannur is the leader of the slave trade racket.

The surviving woman has told the police that they are selling young women for Rs 9.50 lakh, who are being sent abroad with a salary of Rs 60,000 per month to take care of the children.

Young women who resist slavery will be trafficked to Syria and sold to ISIS. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is also collecting information about Majeed’s IS links.

The investigation team has confirmed that the accused are involved in the slave trade abroad and not human trafficking.

Central agencies will gather more information from the young woman who escaped from their trap and returned.

Despite the police receiving the woman’s complaint, the delay in getting the information to the National Investigation Agency has adversely affected the investigation. The FIR was registered on May 18. There are indications that Majeed arrived in Ernakulam once after registering the FIR and returned to Kuwait two days later.
