Huge water flow in Kochi due to burst pipe; Roads were broken and shops were flooded

Kochi: A water supply pipe burst in Tammanat and a large amount of water flowed onto the road. 70 mm from Aluva. The pipe burst in Thammanam Puthi Road area. The road broke up and water entered the nearby shops.

The pipe burst and the water was wasted while various areas of Kochi were experiencing severe water shortage. As the pressure in the pump increased, the pipe burst. The pipe burst at around 10:30 am on Tuesday.

The underground pipes that carry water from Aluva to Kochi are many years old. The pipe burst with a loud noise and there was a big hole in the road. The road became completely impassable. Nearby shops were evacuated.

The water authority informed that the water supply will be disrupted in Edappally, Tammanam, Chalikavattam, Palarivattam, Pullepadi and Vennala areas for the next two days.
