While the Danish football clubs are well underway in preparing for the summer transfer window, the Norwegian transfer window is only now closing.
It kicks in when Wednesday turns into Thursday.
Vendsyssel FF has had a surprising amount of activity following the Danish window closed. First, a few players were sent to the Faroe Islands. Then Marcus Bundgaard was sold to Swedish Elfsborg.
As his replacement, free transfer Oscar Linnér was brought in. Most recently, Philip Rejnhold was also brought in on a free transfer, and with that, sporting director Christian Larsen thought that the window had completely closed for Vendsyssel.
But he was wrong.
In the 11th hour, it has been possible to sell the solid left back Emil Arendrup Nielsen to Norwegian Kongsvinger, who plays in the second best Norwegian league.
– This was a really good opportunity for Emil, and we didn’t want to stand in the way of that. We are in a position where we are well covered at left back until the summer, so when the opportunity arose, this was a really good case for all parties, says Christian Larsen to Nordjyske.
– Emil has earned this opportunity. He is a real club man who always works very hard, so on the one hand we are sad to lose him, but on the other hand we can only wish him the best, because he is a player who always gives 100 percent in the service of the team, says Christian Larsen.
23-year-old Emil Arendrup, who originates from Hjørring, was brought home to the city in the summer of 2022, when he, as the last Dane, had had enough of Klaus-Dieter Müller’s circus in Jammerbugt FC.
Since then, he has more or less been a regular with the Wendel residents.
