Huge money laundering case draws threads to North Jutland

In connection with the action, a total of 10 people were arrested across the country, charged with money laundering of a particularly serious nature.

This was the message in a press release that the National Unit for Special Crime (NSK) issued the day after the action.

The press release did not say anything about where the arrested people live. But now it appears that the case draws threads to North Jutland, among other things.

In an article from TV 2 Østjylland, it appears that NSK, in connection with the arrests, raided addresses in Lemvig and Thisted Municipality, among others.

Six people imprisoned

More precisely, the case concerns money laundering of over 30 million kroner. This should have happened, among other things, through trade in mink skins. The money laundering is suspected to have taken place from autumn 2022 until the arrests took place.

According to NSK, a 43-year-old man from Aarhus is the mastermind in the case.

In the press release from 2 October, one could also read that eight other people arrested in the case all have in common that they are related to the production and sale of, among other things, mink skins and live in different places in the country.

Out of the 10 arrested, six people were subsequently brought before a constitutional hearing and remanded in custody, while the other arrested were released after questioning.

It is not known whether there are people from North Jutland among those remanded in custody or released, as the constitutional hearing was held behind closed doors.

According to TV 2 Østjylland, it emerged from the charges in the constitutional inquiry that people in the mink industry have received drug money in exchange for mink skins and have thus been instrumental in money laundering.

The media writes that the six imprisoned all deny guilt in the case, where there are a total of 11 accused persons.
