The year 2021 marked a huge demand for global luxury yacht sales. Although this year is unlikely to match last year’s level, sales are still 68 percent above the 13-year average, according to Fraser Yachting.
Last year, 1,001 luxury yachts of 24 meters or more were sold for 9.4 billion euros ($9.2 billion), according to Kevin Buddington, founder and CEO of YachtBuyer.com. for 4.2 billion euros.
The Americans led the demand for yachts this year, to make up for the absence of wealthy Russians. US owners accounted for the largest share of both the existing fleet of yachts and new yachts. According to the “Super Yacht Times”, American owners make up 23 percent of the global fleet of giant boats over 40 meters in length, followed by Russians with regarding 9 percent.
