Huawei to release three-part folding smartphone earlier than expected

This time, it’s definitely confirmed. The first three-part folding smartphone from Huawei had been making appearances in the wild in recent weeks. This intriguing terminal had been seen in the hands of the CEO of the brand’s “consumer” division, Richard Yu. A stolen photo that launched the rumor mill, the leakers Chinese referring to a draft technical sheet for this new type of smartphone, probably still in the prototype stage.

This device will indeed be available to the general public, something that Richard Yu himself confirmed during a launch event for an electric car produced by Huawei (the Stelato S9). The brand’s manager indicated that the smartphone would be marketed in September: in other words,IT Homewhich suggested a sale before the Mate 70 series, expected in the fourth quarter, was right.

Yu did not confirm the name of the smartphone, however, which will probably be included in Huawei’s Mate X series of foldable devices. This double-folding model is expected to have a 10-inch screen, which would make it the largest foldable device on the market, but also with a Kirin 9 series chip and the HarmonyOS NEXT operating system. All of these elements suggest that while its format is sure to attract attention — and could inspire the competition — this smartphone has little chance of being marketed beyond China’s borders.
