Huawei Middle East IT Day 2022 Highlights Complete Data Center Solutions

  • Customers shared their digital transformation journey powered by all-flash storage

Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Huawei Middle East IT Day 2022, themed “Green Data, Super Power”, recently brought together experts, independent analysts and Huawei customers to discuss the role of modern data centers and of storage technology to help businesses innovate faster.

Digitization is accelerating in the region, putting pressure on existing IT systems. This has led to an increase in demand for agile, scalable, and cost-effective all-flash storage that can better meet digital transformation needs than traditional storage systems.

Addressing the summit, Steven Yi, President for the Middle East and Africa of Huawei, said: “Countries in the Middle East and Africa want to adopt new technologies, as we have seen with the rapid development of 5G in the region. We will continue to work with our customers and partners to lead the next wave of digital transformation and drive national transformation visions. »

Bill Rfollowingy, Vice President of Storage Solutions, Huawei, whose keynote titled “Redefining All-Flash Data Center” highlighted the importance of innovative technologies such as flash storage platforms and how they enable organizations to accelerate digital transformation. He also highlighted the applicability of Huawei’s pioneering technology in different verticals such as Tax/Finance and Oil & Gas.

The event also featured the publication of a white paper entitled “The Trend of Data-intensive HPC (High-Performance Computing)”. The report provides insight into the rapidly changing demands placed on the HPC ecosystem by the growth in adoption of data-intensive applications and workloads.

Early adopters of all-flash storage have already experienced the transformative power of this technology. Sim S. Lim, Group Executive, Consumer Banking & Wealth Management, DBS Bank, introduced participants to the bank’s digitization journey. He noted, “At DBS, we are reimagining and reinvesting in the latest ICT solutions to digitally empower our customers and build an ecosystem of trust and collaboration.

Fahem Al Nuaimi, CEO of Ankabut, shared his insights on building a full-stack intelligent data center in the United Arab Emirates. He said, “A smart comprehensive data center allows us to offer digitized education services, which makes the academic process more efficient while stimulating collaboration.

The financial industry is one of the most important markets for modern storage due to the need to digitize the customer journey, stringent data processing requirements, and the need for robust cybersecurity. A panel discussion titled “The Future of the Financial Sector – IT-Driven Digital Transformation” focused on this sector and attracted IT managers from some of the region’s leading banks.

Wilson Xavier, Director of ICT Research, IDC META, was also one of many distinguished speakers. He highlighted industry trends for storage and data center, noting that “the company’s DataSphere share of global data volume will increase to 68% by 2025, and data management strategies data can make or break IT modernization”.

Liu Gui, Vice President of Marketing and Solution Sales, Enterprise Business Group, Huawei Middle East, closed the day by launching the Huawei Flash Track promotion program, which can provide storage devices earlier and help customers quickly deploy IT resources and implement projects faster.

All industries must urgently prepare for the digital economy. But they also need costs and energy consumption to come down. Huawei’s all-flash data center solutions provide businesses with a faster, greener, and more reliable way to manage data more efficiently and cost-effectively. They also greatly improve intelligent management as the life of the flash disk can be monitored and predicted. And, given enough flexibility, they deliver optimal latency for workloads, which improves customer experience, shortens deployment times, and significantly reduces the frequency of latency issues.

Currently, Huawei has 12 R&D centers, more than 4,000 R&D staff and 3,000 patents dedicated to storage, supporting more than 15,000 customers in over 150 countries. Huawei data storage ranks third in the world and has been recognized by Gartner for more than five years. Huawei’s all-flash storage solution, OceanStor Dorado, was also chosen by Gartner Peer Insights for “Customers’ Top Choice”.
