Update (07/22/23) – JB

After a leaked image reveal that the Huawei Mate 60 line should return to using pill to accommodate ToF sensor and the front camera, a preview of HarmonyOS shows that the smartphone will also have dynamic island features.

Huawei has even used the pill in the past, but it was not centered on the Mate 40 Pro. Furthermore, in the Mate 50 generation the company simply went back and used the traditional notch in the Mate 50 Pro model.

HarmonyOS 4.0 should bring some tweaks so that the Mate 60 Pro’s dynamic island can display charging information, and some gestures can also cause it to display notifications.

Rumors even say that the Mate 60 Pro’s island will be able to display data from connected Bluetooth devices and much more. Check out the video below for a preview of what’s to come.

Another important highlight of the Mate 60 Pro island is the presence of a ToF sensor to make the device have accurate facial recognition, something similar to what Apple offers via Face ID.

For now, Huawei is not commenting on the matter, but the chances of the Mate 60 line coming out of the box with a 5G connection are high.

In addition, the devices must still have Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, 50 MP main camera, 120 Hz OLED screen and 5,100 mAh battery.

Huawei Mate 60 Pro: leaked image reveals display with pill notch

the line Huawei Mate 60 should hit the market this second half and everything indicates that the Mate 60 Pro should differentiate itself from many Android flagships by adopt a pill notch on the front side.

According to information from China, this Huawei solution follows the same pattern that Apple uses in its Dynamic Island. With this, the front camera will be next to a 3D ToF sensor to make the user’s facial recognition more safely.

In addition, using this pill also does away with the traditional notch that was present on the Mate 50 Pro.

Of course, the similarity between Huawei’s solution and Apple’s Dynamic Island is undeniable. However, what remains to be seen is whether Huawei will adopt software features similar to those that are part of the iPhone 14 Pro experience.

For now, Huawei does not comment on the matter. As for the specifications of the Mate 60 line, it must be remembered that previous leaks revealed that the devices must have Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset and dedicated 5G modem.

They will also have a curved OLED screen with FHD+ resolution and a rate of 120 Hz, a 50 MP main camera and a 5,100 mAh battery with an 88W charge.

Finally, the operating system will be HarmonyOS.
