Huawei launches a connected watch… which contains wireless headphones

Is it a watch? Is it a pair of wireless headphones? Both, answers Huawei, which is launching its curious Watch Buds in China today.

The brand, who is no longer a citizen of the United States, has launched new products in China, among which we particularly note the Watch Buds. As its name suggests, this connected watch not only displays the time and notifications, but also features a pair of wireless headphones.

An all-in-one connected accessory

3D renderings had already leaked concerning this funny hybrid product, but this time it’s the right one. Huawei confirms that this is indeed a real product intended for commercialization, not just a prototype.

Quite discreet for the time being in terms of technical data, Huawei simply publishes a trailer which allows you to understand a little better how the whole thing works.

Journalists on site were also able to put the tocante on the wrist and illustrate the thing with a few photos. Imposing, the Watch Buds adopts a round design, which takes up the main aesthetic lines of the Huawei Watch 3.

The watch dial can be opened like a jewelry box to reveal two wireless in-ear headphones of unknown reference. It is in fact understood that the watch not only makes it possible to store, but also to recharge said headphones when they are not in use.

Technical details to clarify

This watch, which nothing indicates for the moment that it will be released outside of China (moreover, its launch in the country seems to have been postponed at the last minute) does not yet have an official technical sheet.

It’s obvious: it will adopt Huawei’s in-house operating system, HarmonyOS. As such, it should work in concert with branded products like the latest Mate 50 Pro.

What questions more is the impact that recharging the headphones will have on the autonomy of the watch. Although Huawei’s smartwatches are quite famous for their endurance, they have never had to act as a charging pad for another device so far.

A strange hybrid product therefore, which joins the Nokia 5710 to the rank of high tech oddities. Why not ?
