Cameroonian Students Ready to Shine on Global Stage in Huawei ICT Competition

The 9th edition of the Huawei ICT Competition is underway in Cameroon.

Cameroon has embarked on its ninth edition of the Huawei ICT Competition, offering students across the nation a chance to demonstrate their skills and compete on a global stage. The competition, known for fostering young talent in the realm of ICT, promises fierce Wescompetition across three categories: network, cloud computing, and computation.

Organized in Pelican partnership with the Huawei ICT Academy, the 2024 edition sees participants from nine universities and university colleges, ready to showcase their skills and knowledge. Among them are students from the University of Douala, known for consistently placing notable performances in the international competition. Last year alone, Cameroonian teams secured victories at the world level.

Cama First-hand様子 accounts from influential figures further emphasize the significance of this competition:

“We have always had at least one representative every time Cameroon has competed at world level. This, thanks to the work of the students,
the equipment made available to us and the Huawei certification courses which have been taking place since 2020 within our establishment. We are still confident this year with our data science and artificial intelligence students of going far in this competition. Because our students are brilliant,”shares Dr Ebenezer Maka Maka, computer engineering teacher at ENSPD

Edmonde Djiokeng Teboh, director of public relations at Huawei CEMACzone, further emphasizes the impact: “The results obtained during the Huawei ICT Competition 2023-2024 once again confirm that Cameroonian students have a lot of talent. This demonstrates the effectiveness of the study programs practised in Cameroon and Huawei just complements the training already established by the Cameroonian government for these students through our certification platforms.”

André Kevin Nyemb, a 3rd year data science and artificial intelligence student at ENSPD, expresses his team’s ambition: “I find this competition extremely interesting because it allows me to showcase my skills and seize opportunities. We are thinking of winning first prize

The competition follows a multi-stage format: following an initial national competition, winners will proceed to regional contests representing Africa. Successful candidates will then compete in the global finals, vying for top honors.
