Very discreet in Europe on the smartphone market, HTC has not yet disappeared. Far from consensus models, the firm has been able to make people talk regarding it with smartphones linked to the blockchain or more recently, to the metaverse. The U23 presented today is one of these creations. A model that attacks the mid-range and might well reserve some surprises.
A technical sheet that does not deserve
In an attempt to compete with the big players in the mid-range segment at less than €550, the HTC U23 is adorned with a rather solid technical sheet. Indeed, it is equipped with a 6.7-inch Oled panel with FHD + definition, refreshed at 120 Hz and protected by Gorilla Glass Victus. Inside we find a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor coupled with 12 GB of RAM as well as 256 GB of internal storage (expandable). So far, the smartphone is rather attractive, especially since it benefits from the IP67 standard and has a 3.5 mm mini-jack.
Its 4600 mAh battery benefits from fast charging at 30 W and 15 W wireless. This is, in our opinion, the only slight setback that the smartphone can suffer, at a time when the vast majority of mid-range adopt a minimum 5000 mAh accumulator with a slightly faster charge. In photos, it might also be quite interesting if the software processing follows. The HTC U23 is equipped with a main module of 108 megapixels with a lens opening at f / 1.7 and optically stabilized. It is accompanied by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle module, a 5-megapixel macro and finally a 2-megapixel depth sensor. At the front, it is a 32 megapixel module that officiates.
The Viverse at your fingertips
We said it at the start, following the blockchain, HTC turned to the metaverse. On the strength of its experience in virtual and augmented reality thanks to its various headsets, HTC is trying to open the doors to this virtual world thanks to Viverse, its in-house metaverse. If it is not certain that the HTC U23 can transport you into a virtual universe as a headset would do, the application present by default in the phone will let you create your own avatar and socialize with others. users.
In addition, connection to the Vive XR Elite is available, allowing you to view content from Netflix or Disney+. The combo allows you a viewing equivalent to a 300-inch canvas, in total immersion.
The HTC U23 is already available for pre-order at a price of €549. It is available in two colors: Coffee Black and Snow White. An introductory offer is available from May 18 to June 4. Thanks to this, a pair of HTC True Wireless Earbuds Plus headphones is offered. A gift worth €79.
