Sony continues the renewal of its soundbars with the launch of the HT-S2000. This comes in the form of a simple 80 x 6.4 x 12.4 cm block that can easily slip under most TV installations. The connection part consists of an optical input, an HDMI eARC port and Bluetooth, but there is no trace of wifi connectivity.
The HT-S2000 has 3.1 physical channels, including a central speaker that promises beautiful dialogue clarity. In addition, the bar incorporates a double subwoofer which allows it to do without a remote subwoofer. Sony fortunately leaves the choice to the user to add a subwoofer (SA-SW5 or SA-SW3) and/or rear satellites (SA-RS3S) to complete his home-cinema installation.
Despite only three streaming channels, the bar is Dolby Atmos and DTS:X compatible. It relies on Sony’s surround virtualization technologies to provide the most immersive bubble possible. It is also capable of creating a 3D upmix of any stereo source.
Sony is taking advantage of the release of the HT-S2000 to present a new app called Sony Home Entertainment Connect. This will allow you to control your bar from your smartphone and access various installation tutorials and software updates.
The HT-S2000 will be launched next June at a price of €499.
