The water condition of “Touqian River” in Hsinchu is in an emergency. The accumulated rainfall is about half less than that of 2021, when the water condition was the worst. There has been no water since the upstream. “Tofu Rock” has now become dried tofu, and the riverbed is cracked, and the area is not small. The Water Resources Department predicts that there may be a wave of rain after the sting, hoping to improve the water situation.

The water condition of the Tauqian River in Hsinchu City is in dire straits. Not only the first stage of spring plowing may be affected, but the well-known tourist attraction “Tofu Rock” has also become dried tofu.
The tofu rock located in the lower reaches of Touqian River is actually to protect the riverbed. The wave-absorbing blocks are neatly arranged in a square shape, just like tofu soup cooked with river water. But now, there is no rain from the sky, the soup is gone, and there are only pieces of frozen tofu left in place. Compared with the beautiful photos taken by netizens before, the water can still flood the tofu rock and flow down, but this kind of picture is no longer there.
Chen Meichang, deputy director of the Hsinchu Management Office of the Farmland and Water Conservancy Department, said, “Compared to the worst water situation in 2021, (rainfall) is still about half less.”
Spreading out the monthly precipitation in Hsinchu observed by the Meteorological Bureau, the whole January has only fallen 21.5 millimeters, a record low in the past five years, and in January it has only fallen 9.5 millimeters. The level is even worse than in the past, so that the water supply of the Shangping Weir on the upper reaches of the Shangping River has dropped from 2.4 cubic meters to only 1.3 cubic meters.
Chen Meichang, deputy director of the Hsinchu Management Office of the Farmland and Water Conservancy Department, said, “Our farmers are called upon to cooperate with the management office’s rotation irrigation mechanism. Everyone cooperates with the irrigation from the upstream and collects water to the downstream, and then the downstream farmers transplant the whole field. Work.”
In terms of solar terms, the Water Conservancy Department predicts that there may be rain around March 6, but seeing that the seedling transplanting period is approaching, we hope that farmers will cooperate and assist in water conservancy scheduling to tide over this wave of crisis together.
