HP to release updated Omen 17 gaming laptop based on 16-core Core i9-12900HX

HP is preparing to release an updated Omen 17 gaming laptop. indicates on its official website that the laptop will receive a 16-core processor Core i9-12900HX of the Alder Lake-HX series, which Intel has not yet officially introduced.

HP confirms that the Core i9-12900HX received 16 physical cores with support for 24 virtual threads, operates at up to 5.0 GHz and has 30 MB of L3 cache on board. By the way, in the description of the recently announced gaming laptop Gigabyte Aorus 17X YEbuilt on the same processor, the number of chip cores was not specified. These data came from an earlier leak. Unlike the Alder Lake-P and Alder Lake-H processors, the aforementioned Core i9-12900HX uses eight, not six, performance and eight power-efficient cores.

The updated HP Omen 17 gaming laptop will be able to offer up to 32 GB of DDR5-4800 RAM in the form of two 16 GB RAM modules, up to 2 TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD with TLC memory, and a GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Max graphics accelerator -Q with 16GB GDDR6 memory.

The laptop is equipped with a 17.3-inch IPS screen with anti-reflective coating. It supports a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels, a refresh rate of 144 Hz and a response time of 7 ms. It also has a brightness rating of 300 cd/m.2 and 100% coverage of the sRGB color space.

The availability of the new configuration of the Omen 17 gaming laptop is still unknown.
