Hello, this is Editor B. I have a dream for a light gaming laptop. It was two years ago, following I reviewed the HP Omen 16. I was quite shocked by the gaming laptop I hadn’t used in a long time. ‘Wow, the performance of gaming laptops these days is really good.’ As I focused on making a living, I stayed away from games for a while, but was it finally time? It felt like a sleeping black dragon was waking up. But the problem is weight. As someone who pursues the life of a digital nomad, no matter how good an item is, I can’t stand it if it’s heavy. The same goes for the unbearable heaviness of a laptop. The Omen 16 Slim, which is lighter than the HP Omen 16, was released in July. I’ll have to review it when it comes out. I was singing the song “lululala,” but I got caught up in this life and it wasn’t until October that I finally got around to using it. The product was rented from HP. To put it briefly, since it is slim, it is definitely light. However, it is light among gaming laptops, and compared to regular laptops, it is naturally heavier. Today’s review is not a detailed list of specifications, but rather an impression of whether it is worth carrying. It is released in two colors, Shadow Black and Ceramic White, and the product I used is Shadow Black. For reference, the reasons why I wanted to try the HP Omen Slim 16 are as follows. I want to play Diablo 4 at home. I have an iMac at home, so adding a desktop is a burden. Gaming laptops are heavy so I don’t think I can carry them around. Are there any lightweight gaming laptops? I almost <디아블로4>This is a person who doesn’t do anything else. In that respect, the HP Omen 16 Slim passes the test. This is a laptop that is perfect for a light user like me. With a refresh rate of up to 240hz, the screen was very smooth, and there was no tearing even during bloody battles with many monsters. If you are a light user, you cannot just play games with a gaming laptop. You will be using it a lot for content consumption, and I like the dual speakers collaborated with Bang & Olufsen, so it is perfect. The rich and majestic sound surrounds me as if swirling from the front, so there is no need for separate speakers. Rather than feeling like the high, mid, and low frequencies are evenly heard with high resolution, it is closer to grandeur. It’s not a shame because it’s not a speaker for sound. I took this laptop home for the Chuseok holiday. I always took my old MacBook Air with me, and although the Omen Slim 16 was heavier, it was definitely better for watching movies. It would be hard to complain regarding the sound. Now let’s talk regarding what’s really important. It weighs 2.1 kg. In an era where laptops weighing less than 1kg are released, 2kg may seem heavy, but considering it is a gaming laptop, it is relatively light. I deliberately carried my laptop in my backpack every day for a portability review. I didn’t think 2.1kg was heavy, but it was an adapter. I mightn’t carry the adapter with me, so I took it with me every time, but it felt like the word “slim” was disappearing from my mind. Let’s think realistically. There is no way to carry just a laptop and adapter in your backpack. If you are a college student, you will probably put books and other things in it, but considering that situation, the weight of the Omen Slim 16 is bound to feel heavy. Is it because I had high expectations for the name ‘Slim’? In order for the HP Omen Slim 16 to say with confidence, “We’ve become lighter,” it seems like it needs to go on a bit of a diet. What is more urgent than a laptop is an adapter. The body made of aluminum and magnesium alloy material has a luxurious feel, and it seems like an effort was made to reduce weight as much as possible. Still, I believe we can do better. The unexpected advantage is the feel of the key. Personally, I don’t like the light feel of laptop keyboards, but the springy feel when typing on the Omen Slim 16 was addictive. It didn’t feel like it was ‘jumping’ without any weight. As I conclude this article, I would like to express one wish. It’s design. The Omen Slim 16 inherited the DNA of the gaming laptop line ‘Omen’. However, in order to emphasize the strength of ‘slimness’, wouldn’t it be necessary to have a less gaming-like design? Couldn’t we bring in a little more of HP’s Pavilion series and Specter series design? It would be great to have a laptop that looks like it’s not gaming, but is gaming on the inside.
