Howard Marks, Josh Kushner… Wall Street’s top experts

‘Hankyung Global Market Conference NYC 2022’ started on the 5th (local time) for 3 days and 2 nights to commemorate the 1st anniversary of the launch of Hankyung Global Market, the largest overseas stock information platform in Korea. It is a conference on a different level, covering a wide range of investment assets, from stocks, bonds, private equity funds, hedge funds, real estate and artworks to non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

The event started with a visit to the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), the heart of the global financial market. Although high-ranking officials from the business and financial circles and super-high-wealth people participated, it was their first visit to the NYSE. This is because NYSE security has been greatly strengthened since the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Admission is strictly restricted except for IPO company officials who ring the ‘opening bell’ on that day, but the NYSE specially invited participants to the Hankyung Global Market Conference.

After visiting NYSE, I visited Christie’s New York Gallery, the world’s largest art auction house.

At the main conference on the 6th, former Boston Federal Bank President Eric Rosengren will discuss inflation and the US economy, and Oaktree Capital Chairman Howard Marks will explain the market cycle and investment principles. James Stabridis, former NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) commander-in-chief (current Vice President Carlyle), will give a lecture on the changes in the geopolitical environment that investors must know regarding.

Josh Kushner, CEO of Thrive Capital, one of the most ‘hot’ managers in the US venture capital (VC) industry, will also be a lecturer on the day.

On the stock market outlook, New York Life Asset Management’s Chief Investment Officer (CIO) Je-seong Yoon and Founder Thomas Lee Fundstrat will give lectures. Alex G. Goldman Sachs partner explains the private credit investment strategy, and Michael Chung, vice president of Millennium Management, explains the hedge fund investment strategy. Gregory Hall, CEO of Pimco’s Global Wealth Management, presents Pimco’s macroeconomic outlook and portfolio strategy.

Some of the contents of this conference can be found on the Hankyung Global Market website, YouTube channel, and Korea Economic TV.
