Google has introduced an online Computer Science (CS) program for young students in Pakistan in collaboration with the government and private technology companies.
The inauguration ceremony to introduce Google’s CS program in the country was held at the Ministry of Information Technology (IT) and Telecommunication, which was attended by senior government officials including the Minister of Technology.
Google South Asia Head Farhan S. Qureshi, Technology Minister Syed Aminul Haque, Information Technology Secretary Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui and other senior officials attended the inauguration ceremony.
Officials of Tech Welle Pakistan, Telecom Foundation and Virtual University also participated in the opening ceremony.
While the Ministry of Information Technology will support Google to run the Google CS First program in Pakistan, Techwell Pakistan, Telecom Foundation and Virtual University will also provide support in the said program.
What is CS First Program?
CS First Program It is a global program introduced by Google, through which digital training was being given to children in many countries before Pakistan.
Under this program, children are given initial training and education in fields like art, sports and game design.
The above program is run by Google with the support of various organizations around the world and there is no fee.
Common students can also participate in the said program by looking online, however CS program gives good results in Google sponsored institutes and various institutes.
How will the CS First program work in Pakistan?
Like other countries, the Google program will be run with the support of various organizations in Pakistan.
In this context, children of 9 to 14 years of age will be trained in CS First program in schools of Telecom Foundation.
Initially, the program will be run on a limited scale in schools of the Telecom Foundation in Karachi, Islamabad and Lahore and only those children who belong to middle or low income families will be included in this program.
TechVale Pakistan will provide technical support to Google to run the said program.
The CS First program will have two phases, the first phase will be teacher training and virtual university support for teacher training.
In the second phase, trained teachers will teach CS to children and this process will take place in Telecom Foundation schools.
