There are also some new planned hydroelectric power plants, where electrolysers are planned at the same time. “They take longer, however, because the construction times are at least four to five years.”
Haag does not want to reveal exactly where the first hydrogen factories are planned. But one thing is clear: it is also planned to export the hydrogen, including to Germany. “There is no discussion that we have to import green hydrogen,” says Haag.
In an international comparison, the manager does not necessarily see the country as a leader in the megatrend. “We’re not pioneers,” he says. “There is a lot of talk, a few programs have also been set up. But I think we’re lagging behind here. It needs to be approached in a more structured way.”
