How to understand that the flu has not passed without consequences

You can’t buy health

Doctors do not get tired of repeating that it is not the flu itself that is terrible, but its consequences. Viral toxins make the vascular walls more permeable to infections. This allows them to reach the internal organs with the bloodstream and cause inflammation. What symptoms will tell you that the flu has not gone unnoticed:

  • Great fatigue and irresistible lethargy. They can pile up a couple of weeks following recovery. If the breakdown is accompanied by shortness of breath during the usual physical activity, it is worth suspecting something was wrong with the “motor”. In such a situation, do not try to lie down and do not wait until everything “passes by itself.” Go to the therapist and cardiologist! It can be an inflammation of the heart muscle – myocarditis. If left untreated, it will end in heart failure.
  • Cutting pains when going to the toilet in a small way and pain in the back. Unpleasant sensations usually develop within two weeks following a viral attack and may indicate that the flu has hit the kidneys. Be sure to go to the therapist and take a blood and urine test.
  • Deep, wet cough and a temperature of 37.5 C. This is how the beginning inflammation of the lungs manifests itself. It usually develops 7 to 10 days following recovering from the flu. Other striking symptoms of misfortune are severe sweating and wild fatigue, which does not even allow you to reach the toilet. In this case, call an ambulance.

To avoid complications, treat the flu to the end, give up physical activity for another two weeks following recovery and return to an active life gradually. Try to sleep more, dress warmly and avoid crowded places. Otherwise, new sores can easily stick to the immune system weakened by the virus.

Get a complete blood count two weeks following recovering from the flu. It will show whether inflammation has begun in the body.
