Former South African pacer Makhaya Ntini has asked Jasprit Bumrah not to bowl at full strength from the start as he has recovered from injury. According to Ntini, the former batsman was of the opinion that bowling too fast now would increase Bumrah’s risk of re-injury.
Bumrah, Team India’s leading pacer across formats, was sidelined for 11 months with a groin injury and underwent surgery. A comeback was made during the recently concluded Ireland tour. The 29-year-old made a grand return to the big stage with four wickets in two T20Is.
“We all know that Jasprit Bumrah is one of the best fast bowlers that everyone wants to see perform well. But in my view, as a player coming back from injury, what you have to do is use your intelligence, use your experience. Don’t try to be the hero from day one; You may go back to your injury. Push yourself to be the best star we know,” Ntini replied.
“That’s my only advice to Bumrah, don’t worry regarding injury, just be careful. Just don’t get too excited.” The former star said,
