Fortunately, Apple makes it possible to repair the broken pots following a purchase made by mistake by requesting a refund.
Almost every parent has experienced this before. Lend their iPhone to their young child so that he can spend his time playing Fortnite (at the time) or another free game with in-app purchases. Time passes and then, on your credit card invoice, you see that an indecent amount has been charged to you with, as a reference, “App Store”.
Obviously, the only culprit can only be your toddler. Without doing it on purpose, he will have bought a new game or credits in his favorite game. But do not panic ! No need to yell at your child, since Apple allows you to backtrack and request a refund.
For this, the process is rather simple, even if it has just changed. While Apple allowed you to find your purchase on the App Store and then request a refund, Apple has created a website to connect to and where to appeal.
In order to request the refund, go to the website reportaproblem.apple.com. Sign in with your Apple ID and password. You will then arrive on a page allowing you to to report a problem to Apple teams. You can find your most recent purchases there, as well as the one your child accidentally bought!
In the first box, under What can we do for you?select I would like to request a refund. The list will then show only recently acquired paid apps. Then select the reason you are claiming a purchase in the box below.
Apple will then allow you to request the refund if and only if the purchase meets the criteria. If it is an application that you no longer want, a right of withdrawal of 14 days applies, beyond which reimbursement is no longer possible.
Check the status of your request
When you have launched a refund request from Apple, all you have to do is wait for an email indicating whether or not the refund has been granted to you and for what reason. If, however, you see the time has passed and still haven’t received anything, feel free to return to the Apple site to see the status of your request.
For this too Apple has created a site to know the status of the request.
Prevent App Store Purchases
To prevent such a mishap from happening to you once more, you can activate parental controls in the App Store. To do this, you must go to the settings of your device and then go to the menu screen time. Then press Content and Privacyenter your code if prompted.
Then check the option Enable Restrictionsthen go to the sub-menu iTunes and App Store purchases. Then activate the option Always require under Require Password to have the iPhone or iPad ask for the password when downloading an app.
