How to remove bloatware from your Windows 11 PC

Microsoft the Windows 11 works great on most modern PCs, but users can further improve their experience by removing bloatware from the operating system. Windows 11 was launched worldwide in October last year. However, its launch was a bit controversial as several older PCs did not meet the new criteria set by Microsoft to upgrade to Windows 11.

After this initial tussle, several Windows 10s have started upgrading to Windows 11. However, the adoption of Microsoft’s latest operating system seems to be a bit slow. While Windows 11 comes with lots of new features like revamped user interface, cleaner design and more customization options, it also comes with lots of pre-installed apps. These apps, or bloatware as they are commonly called, can noticeably decrease the performance of a Windows 11 PC.

Luckily, there are two ways to get rid of these unwanted apps. The first is the manual method, but it is a bit slow. Meanwhile, the other is much faster but requires installing a third-party app uninstaller. However, these two methods work almost similarly, so users can select the one that suits them best and use it to remove bloatware on their Windows 11 PC.

Remove Windows 11 Bloatware Manually and with a Third-Party Application

Probably the easiest way to remove bloatware from a Windows 11 PC is to completely uninstall these pre-installed apps from the system. Users can do this by searching for the “Apps and features” option setting in the search bar. This will bring up all installed apps in a new window. Users can now remove each of these programs by left-clicking on the three vertical dots on the rightmost parallel side and selecting “Uninstall.” The apps menu will feature all pre-installed Windows apps, including useful apps, as well as bloatware. Therefore, users must carefully consider each application that they wish to remove from the system before doing so. While trying this method, browsing the internet for common bloatware apps in Windows 11 operating system can also be helpful. Users can also manually remove apps from the Windows 11 Start menu. Begin by clicking on the Windows icon and selecting the “All apps” option located at the top right corner of the screen. This will display a list of all pre-installed apps on the PC, and users can easily remove them by right-clicking on them and selecting “Uninstall”.

Selecting and deleting multiple files individually can be cumbersome for some users. However, bloatware removal can also be done more efficiently by using a third-party application called ThisisWin11. It is available for everyone as a free download on the popular code hosting platform, Github. To use ThisisWin11, users need to install and run the application on their system using the “Run as administrator” option. Once the application is open, users should navigate to the “Debloat Windows 11” tab, where they will see a complete list of all bloatware present in their system. Then users can select those apps and move them to Trash using the option given in ThisisWin11 and then proceed to delete them accordingly. Besides, the Windows users can also save some pre-installed apps from deletion. It is a quick and easy method that saves a lot of time but requires downloading a third-party app uninstaller.
