But, if you don’t have one on hand, there are also proven alternatives to use in an emergency. An unexpected ally? Hairspray. Very easy to apply: just turn the garment over and spray it from a distance of regarding 30 cm. And presto, voila, no more static electricity! Do the same on your tights: you will be sure that your dress will not stick to your legs.

Need a home remedy? There’s nothing like making your own anti-static fluid. Thus, you can spray it every day on your outfit before going out in the morning to go to work or at the beginning of the evening to avoid unpleasant surprises. How to proceed ? Take a vaporizer spray and pour in the following ingredients:

  • 1 cup distilled water
  • 4 tablespoons of vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon of glycerin

Of course, we must blame the static electricity which always attacks us by surprise. But don’t worry, there are plenty of solutions to counter it and stop stressing out. Here are a few to adopt.

  1. The easiest way is to always have a anti-static spray around. It is the ideal option to neutralize electrical charges by increasing hygroscopic substances that attract moisture.
  2. In the absence of the spray, you can simply rub sticky areas with a damp cloth or paper towel. This dose of humidity will be able to control, at least temporarily, the electrostatic forces.
  3. Little known tip: run a wire hanger or even a piece of aluminum foil between the hanging areas. Yes, it’s magic, metal is great for eliminating static electricity on our clothes.

Even our washing habits have a part to play in this story. Unless otherwise specified on the label, your polyester garments are washed in lukewarm water, either by hand or in the washing machine. So, a word of advice, next time, pour a full cup of your fabric softener into the drum. Casually, this will greatly reduce the buildup of static electricity. This is what will happen: as it has a positive charge, the fabric softener will bind to the negative charge present in the clothes and thus help to find a balance. So think regarding it, don’t forget to always have some handy!

On the other hand, following washing your clothes, instead of using the dryer, plan to hang them outside in the open air instead, this will help reduce static electricity noticeably. Especially with the return of sunny days, you can easily hang them on a rope to dry quietly in the sun.
