how to recover the routines that order life

Classes started and educational institutions are opening their doors gradually to receive the children following Summer Vacation. resume the routine and daily chores is, in some cases, a difficult task. However, professionals agree that this stage of the year is a positive and constructive kick for the sociability and the learning.

It is clear that the rest it is necessary and deserved, but to return to the classes or to extracurricular activities creates an opening to new worlds that are relevant for the growth of minors.

In that tone, fernando burgos (MN 81759) head of the Pediatric Outpatient Area of the Austral University Hospital and member of the Argentine Society of Pediatrics (SAP), raised in dialogue with the news site Infobae: “Back to school generates emotions and stress in both children and parents. That is why it is important that there is, in the previous days, a direct talk with the youngest, looking them in the eye and explaining the importance of what schooling is. You don’t just go to school to learn but also to socialize and have friends. This explanation, which seems obvious, must be given because that also creates confidence and security”.

Under these precepts, Burgos left some advice to encourage the youngest to attend school, especially in first grade. “It is highly recommended accompany them to school on their first day, make them a breakfast with their favorite food or put a drawing or a message saying ‘I wait for you’ or ‘I love you’”. The objective? “That if they feel lonely or upset at some point because they are separated from their parents —especially following the holidays— they have that accompaniment,” said the specialist.

And he added: “It is important to form a team of school parents, that is, to get in touch with others and have the possibility of quickly organizing a meeting or a coffee to get to know each other. If we have safe parents, we will have safe children”.

For her part, the psychologist and writer Beatriz Goldberg (MN 6235) contributed: “It is not good that the children are on endless vacations, because there would be no break in leisure time. If the holidays are good it is because followingwards there is a routine. An eternal free time would be very boring. The routine organizes the family and the whole environment”.

For Goldberg,It is essential and necessary for minors to be able to socialize, play and be in an organized environment. The school routine provides peace of mind and a space for parents to organize their own times. In addition, there are many holidays and they are on weekends, it is not an eternal routine ”.

Another professional consulted was the pediatrician Adrian Giannotti (MN 90998), who pointed out that, in general, “children have plasticity to get back to the routine. They are active beings, they usually adapt well to changes and to what it means to return to social life, but It’s still a stressful situation.”

For this instance of the year to be fruitful, “the preferences of the child must be accompanied in an appropriate social environment, attending to all aspects of its integrity. It is suggested to supervise the social environment in which they move and observe it continuously; and also you have to take care of your mental health”, according to what Giannotti argued.

Back to school health

Beyond the suggestions for coping with the routine, Giannotti emphasized the importance of medical checkups: “Before starting classes, one places more emphasis on participation in physical activities and regular health care. Since sport becomes part of the boy’s daily life (for example, in physical education classes), medical check-ups prior to entering classes are important. It is necessary to specify if the boy is able to do sport and make the certificate physical aptitude”.

In turn, Dr. Burgos recalled the importance of complying with all the vaccines of the national calendar. “Vaccines prevent diseases and this is essential, taking into account that children are going to socialize and be in contact with others. Boys who are of school age are the ones who transmit the most diseases.”

For the professional, during this stage, it is necessary to promote “a healthy nutrition and also talk to the schools so that this objective is met”. Therefore, “if we prepare food, it should contain fruits, vegetables and fibers that contribute to digestive health. In addition, it is essential that they comply with the four meals a day, especially thinking regarding those who do double schooling, “Burgos closed.
