There were a lot of people on the roads this weekend, and traffic was heavy from this Saturday onwards… For some drivers, this could be the first time they have travelled long distances in an electric car, which accounted for 17% of sales in the first half of 2024. So how can this be done? We optimise the cost of charging on holiday? Europe 1 Inventory.

Prices for ultra-fast charging, which is mainly available on highways, have risen by 5% to 6% in recent months. Despite this, the advantages over gasoline or diesel remain, recalled Ehsan Emami, president of charging station manufacturer Qovoltis.

“You have to say that 100 km on the motorway costs about 10 euros, while 100 km of thermal equivalent costs about 14 euros, so we see that we are saving quite a bit, even on the motorway. , compared to a thermal car, we would pay the same amount for electricity if we had stored electricity at home, about 4 euros”, explains the expert.

Lack of information

Qovoltis is an expert in smart charging, i.e. adapting to the needs of the driver and the cost of electricity. This is classic at home, but is also increasingly common in hotels. “In fact, the user specifies the departure time and the program, using artificial intelligence technology, charges the car at the most interesting and cheapest time,” says Ehsan Emami.

There, it is about 7 euros per 100 kilometers. According to the latest data from Avere, 65% of drivers consider pricing not transparent enough. The Competition Authority even pointed out the lack of information. Finally, to avoid unpleasant surprises, take a monthly subscription approach, which can reduce the average budget by 30% to 40%.
