Five planets in the solar system will line up in the sky on Monday, May 29. A phenomenon that can be observed using simple binoculars.
This astrological phenomenon is not rare, but always so spectacular.
On the night of Monday, May 29, Saturn, Neptune, Jupiter, Mercury and Uranus will line up in the sky, and you don’t need a telescope to observe them. Simple binoculars are enough, indicates CNews.
A spectacle that adds to the phenomena that have made this month of May a period rich in celestial events, with two meteor showers and the super flower moon observed on May 16. It will be possible to see the five planets one hour before sunrise on Monday, around 5 a.m.
Find an open area without light pollution
This planetary alignment occurs when several planets approach, at the same time, on one side of the Sun. To best observe the phenomenon, it will therefore be necessary to bring binoculars and locate the planets, in a sector of 70 degrees of the sky. Once in place, Saturn will appear first, followed by Neptune, Jupiter, Mercury and finally Uranus. They should each be 10 degrees apart.
To increase your chances of observing this celestial event, it is advisable to favor a place where the sky is dark and without light pollution and where the view is clear at the level of the horizon, so as not to be bothered by the presence of trees or tall buildings. Applications exist, such as Sky Tonight or Sky Safari, to help you find your way around the sky and identify planets.
