Late last year, YouTube announced its “Go Live Together” feature that allows you to go live on YouTube with two people. Now the feature is getting a wide rollout, allowing all YouTube channels with at least 50 subscribers to go live with a friend and collaborate on the streaming platform.
Most of the time, the only requirement is that whoever is going to start the live stream needs to have at least 50 subscribers. That person can then invite whoever they want to their stream.
But following all, how to use this option? How to activate it? Below, we will show you all the details.
YouTube Live Together Feature
In the Together Live feature, every channel that has at least 50 subscribers can go live with another person. Together they can collaborate on the streaming platform, and live together simultaneously.
As stated above, the channel owner needs to have at least 50 subscribers, and that person can invite whoever they want to their broadcast.
In addition, there are other rules that need to be observed by the host of the live. Are they:
- Have your channel verified;
- Have enabled live streaming;
- Must not have received any live streaming restrictions in the last 90 days;
- Finally, in some situations, you need to wait 24 hours to start your first live stream. Therefore, organize yourself in advance, so as to avoid any kind of inconvenience.
Is the feature available for all devices?
Unfortunately not. For now, the feature can only be activated through the YouTube app, which means that if you have a fancy camera setup at home and want to run it through your computer, you won’t be able to.
While this may be disappointing for some, YouTube claims it is working to allow PC users access to the co-stream feature. However, it has not yet given a timeframe for this option to be available.
How to live on YouTube with two people?
If your channel fits the requirements described above, it’s time to learn how to use the option. See the step-by-step below:
- open the youtube app on your smartphone;
- Right away, access the account in which you want to perform the live;
- Once that’s done, tap the icon + no menu inferior;
- Afterwards, choose the option Together Live.
Once you’ve done that, you can add details to the stream, such as the title, thumbnails, visibility, and monetization settings. That done, just share the link with the user who will participate in the live with you, to finish.
Send the invitation to the guest, and once they click on the link, they will be directed to a waiting room. After going live, you will have the option to allow your guests to join the live.
Finally, it is worth mentioning that YouTube is not the first live streaming platform that offers a co-hosting feature. This is said, as Twitch already released a similar tool in June 2022.
