To avoid being tracked without your knowledge by a malicious person, it would be prudent to check if an AirTag is not in direct proximity to your iPhone.

Sold by Apple as an object tracker intended to find your keys, your bag or your wallet in case you lose them, the AirTag has, in recent years, mainly stood out for the abuses it has might generate. On numerous occasions, AirTags have hit the press for cases of harassment or burglary.

With Apple’s latest updates, the iPhone is supposed to alert you as soon as an unknown AirTag is detected for prolonged periods in direct proximity. But since prevention is better than cure, a check from time to time can’t hurt.

Find an AirTag nearby – what to do

To find out if you are being followed without your knowledge, simply go to the application Locatethen in the tab Objects. If you already have a registered item belonging to you, like an AirTag, tap Identify a found object. If you don’t have an AirTag or tracker connected, swipe up and tap Unknown objects detected near you.

After a little search, the iPhone will alert you whether or not there is an AirTag. You can then use the UWB chip to precisely locate it and get rid of it.
