WhatsApp is without a doubt the most important instant messaging application in the world, because the Meta platform has more than 2,000 million active users worldwide and it is expected that by 2027 the platform will reach 3,000 million users.
However, in the application there is an indicator that everyone can see, but on different occasions they want to hide it. This is ‘Online’. This appears when the user goes to the application and if it is connected to the internet, Your connection status will automatically be displayed.
However, with the latest WhatsApp updates, the ‘Online’ can be hidden and can be done as follows:
- Enter the ‘Settings’.
- Click on ‘Accounts’ and select the ‘Privacy’ option.
- Access in ‘Last Connection’.
- Select which contact can see the ‘Online’ in WhatsApp.
In that sense, there are some options that can help clear up the doubt. However, it is important to mention that to achieve this, you must go to third-party applications and that it is not ethically correct.
Whatslog is an online tracker that allows you to confirm when someone is online. The app it also sets alarms for desired contacts.
According to the portal Enterthis app also works as a tracker, but the difference is that in this one you can see the connection history of all the added contacts.
Although this extension does not notify that someone has connected, it can be seen when a person is online without having to enter the application. This tool is only available for WhatsApp Web.
Beware: with these verification codes your WhatsApp account can be stolen
In recent days, a new malicious campaign has become a trend, where cybercriminals request confirmation of a six-digit number through WhatsApp, which allows access to victims’ accounts.
According to users, the message sent is the following: “Hello. I’m sorry, I sent you a six-digit code by SMS by mistake, can you send it to me? It is urgent”.
This type of deception is not new, since hundreds of users in Europe have received this message on their mobile devices, which is why they alerted them to this problem so that they do not share the codes received.
It is important to mention that, when creating an account in the instant messaging application, users access two different screens. One of them is registration. which appears when you create a new profile or register once more with an existing account.
However, this step is when there is a risk that a different user wants to access the account of the potentially affected person. This has been the detail that has alerted many users, because sometimes they usually arrive without prior notice.
In case the codes are provided, the cybercriminals will have the opportunity to disable WhatsApp and the device of the real owners.
To prevent this leak, users will be able to activate a PIN number, other than the six-digit codes sent by the platform.
