phone screen
The screens of the latest generation smartphones are very energy-intensive. In effect, the larger a screen, the greater its power consumption. Normally, the screen should represent 15% of your total energy consumption. If its consumption exceeds this percentage, it means that there is a problem somewhere. In this case, you can configure the brightness in automatic mode, so that it adapts to the surrounding light and thus avoids unnecessary energy consumption. An update might also fix this bug on all Iphone devices or Android smartphones.
The use of certain applications
The apps you use can consume power and therefore reduce your battery life. To recognize applications that consume a lot of energy, go to SettingsThen Battery. This menu will allow you to track the battery consumption of your Android phone. For IOS phones go to SettingsThen Battery. You will thus have a visibility on the state of your battery to find out whether or not you should replace it.
The charger used is faulty
If your battery is draining quickly, it may be because of your charger. Indeed, with time and use, the USB cable can be damaged by plugging and unplugging the charger each time. The charger then becomes ineffective. To make sure that the charging problem comes from your charger, you can power your smartphone with another charger suitable for the brand of your phone. If the battery lasts a long time, it means that the problem comes from the charger you are using. Note that if it is new, but you still have battery problems, this means that the charger used is not suitable for the model of your smartphone. In effect, charger amperage and power must be adapted to your smartphone.
To improve your battery life and prevent it from draining quickly, a simple change in your phone’s settings is enough.
Phone apps may continue to consume power even following stopping. To limit this consumption, you can prevent these power-hungry apps from using your mobile data in the background. If these apps do not access the internet, they will no longer be able to run in the background, or download new files. Thus, you will be sure to save your battery. To do this, follow these steps:
- Go into Settingsthen click Applications
- Select the power-hungry app whose background data usage you want to suspend
- In the menu that appears, click mobile data, under the heading Utilisation
- Then disable the option Allow use of background data
If you have an iPhone phone, limit background data by following these steps:
- Meeting on Settings and click on General
- Then click on Background refresh. A list of your apps is displayed in front of you.
- Toggle the green to gray slider for each app you want to limit background data usage. It’s simple and practical, and you will be rid of this inconvenience forever, because you will have better autonomy!
To increase the autonomy of your smartphone, simple gestures are enough.
Adjust screen brightness
Very high screen brightness can be power-hungry. To improve the battery life of your telephone, it is recommended to reduce the brightness manually or use an automatic adjustment, in order to adapt the brightness of your smartphone to the place in which you are. You can also favor dark themes or black colored wallpapers which are less energy intensive than light wallpapers. In addition, you will have better reading comfort since your eyes will not be dazzled by the light emitted by the screen of your smartphone.
Disable unused features
Connectivities like Bluetooth and 4G can be disabled if you don’t use them. If no device is connected to your phone, then don’t delay turn off Bluetooth. This is unnecessary energy consumption that you can easily do without. To gain autonomy, you can also use Wifi instead of activating your mobile data. Also, turn off location if you’re not using your GPS or trying to find your route. These small gestures may seem trivial to you, but they can make a significant difference in the energy consumption of your smartphone. You have been warned!
Use power saving mode
Power saving mode is available on Android and IOS phones. This functionality integrated into smartphones allows to optimize the autonomy of the phone and to reduce the activity of your smartphone in the background, to increase battery life. If you have an iPhone:
- Go into Settings ;
- Click on the tab Battery to activate the energy saving mode;
- For Android phones, go to Settingsthen select Battery and performance ;
- Then activate thebattery saver.
