When you’re at home, working or watching a series on Netflix and the Internet connection takes forever to load, it can quickly become exasperating… We then wonder why our Wi-Fi does not work correctly.
But it is possible that it does not come specifically from a technical flaw in your router. Indeed, the problem might simply be due to where your router is located. More precisely: it is possible that certain objects, placed near your router, affect the Wi-Fi coverage. The good news is that the problem can therefore be solved in the blink of an eye!
What objects should stay away from the router?
- The television: our router is usually very close to our television. Unfortunately, this can cause interference and make your connection very slow.
- The microwave: yes, this device uses electromagnetic waves identical to the old Wi-Fi standards, with low transmission power. Suddenly, it is possible that waves occur and affect your Internet signal. But this is still quite rare. If you have connection problems and your microwave is not far from your router, unplug it to avoid problems.
- Bluetooth devices: Speakers and other wireless devices that work with Bluetooth can dampen the Wi-Fi signal and make your connection extremely slow. If you don’t use them, disable them or keep them as far away from your router as possible.
- Radios and monitors: these generally use the same frequency as Wi-Fi standards, which will create interference.
- Heating: Although it may seem surprising, heating can disrupt Wi-Fi signals quite easily, especially if it is installed in several corners of the house.
- Mirrors and glasses: they can absorb Wi-Fi signals or reflect them because of the metallic additives they contain.
